Philip used this for Baptisms after leaving St Mark's and it was inhereited first by his son, George T. Cook II (10) and later by his grandson George T. Cook III (11). In 2016 George T Cook III returned the Ewer to St Marks, which was the 100 anniversary of it given to Rev Cook. It was thought it would be best used and kept there.
There are two inscriptions on the Ewer. The first was engraved by St Mark's vestry when it was presented to Rev Cook in 1916. The second was added by George T Cook (III) in 2016 when it was returned.

1st Inscription reads: "Presented to Rev Philip Cook by the Vestry of St Mark's Church, San Antonio Texas Apr 26-16" (i.e.1916)

2nd Inscription reads: "Returned in gratitude by the descendants of Philip Cook, 4th Bishop of Delaware, to the people of St Mark's April 2016"
